Pizza Fritte (Italian doughnuts!)

This is one of my childhood favorites. My grandmother made these anytime she had leftover dough. I started making these for my kids many years ago and they are always a great sweet treat and a perfect way to end a pizza night!

Pizza Fritte Ingredients
Pizza Dough (see recipe here https://sundaywithachanceofmeatballs.com/2014/03/10/pizza-dough/)
Frying oil (vegetable is fine)
Powdered Sugar (can substitute honey)

Pizza Fritte Method
Form the dough into any shape you like. I cut mine into doughnuts but they don’t have to be perfect (as you can see).

Fry the donuts until golden brown on both sides.

Sprinkle the doughnuts with powdered sugar or drizzle with honey!

You could also vary these as a savory dish by not cutting out the hole and adding sauce and cheese after frying the dough like a mini-pizza.
